About

Ben Hubert is a UK based artist, working with photography, sculpture and moving image. He recieved his 1st class (Hons) BA from Arts University Bournemouth.

Hubert’s primary study and current project Plinthos (2023 - Present) exists within the landscape of masculinity, considering traditional values, progressive perspectives and the nature of their collision in the contemporary space. Previous moving image works Out-of-Body (2022) and Tapestry (2023) establish these themes, exploring vulnerability in the masculine identity and its roots in historic art forms of the same subject. Family and loss are explored in works such as Grandad, 1949 - 2022; a physical coping mechanism and product of grief, utilising mixed mediums in a tactile approach to the photo book.

Hubert received the British Photography Award in 2020 and was shortlisted for the Hahnemühle Student Award in 2024. His ongoing project Plinthos has been exhibited at Photo London, Somerset House and the Bargehouse, Southbank.
